DU Pioneer Invitational - CU Denver Swim
Making waves at local meet
This past weekend on Sunday (February 15, 2026) CU Denver Swim competed in DU’s Pioneer Invitational. Swimming at University of Denver’s El Pomar Natatorium, 11 Lynx Cats participated in the meet and swam their hearts out. The pool walls were slightly slippery, and the depth took a bit to get used to, but our team’s spirit stayed unwavering, and our swimmers swam their very best for the meet.
A few notable swims of the meet:
Our Women’s 200 Medley Relay, which consisted of Kinsey Varner on backstroke, Anna Cattles on breaststroke, Scarlet Crowe on butterfly, and Anna Imark finishing the relay with freestyle, finished with a time of 2:06.03.
Our Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay, which consisted of Ian McGlashan, Alhassan Sulaiman, Jaden Martinson, and anchor Noah Shaw finished with a time of 1:48.45.
Our Women’s 200 Freestyle Relay, which consisted of Kiya Oivas, Julie Abbott, Juju Read, and anchor Anna Cattles finished with a time of 2:07.51.
Additionally, 3 of our female athletes, Kinsey Varner, Julie Abbott, and Kiya Olivas, competed in the 500 Yard Free event, a very difficult and strenuous event but our girl’s persevered.
Maya Hunter, a CU Denver Swim Alum and a part of our LYNX Hall of Fame, even showed up to cheer on the team.
CU Denver Swim’s next and final in-state meet for the season before Nationals will be held on February 28 and March 1 at Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center (VMAC) in Thornton, CO, hosted by CU Boulder. It will be the final meet to obtain a Nationals Cut, and is a prelims-finals meet with swimmers competing both Saturday and Sunday. As of right now, three swimmers have obtained a Nationals Cut.
