Recap: CU Denver falls to UCCS in the Battle of I-25 Tournament
We’re just four weeks into the spring semester here at the University of Colorado Denver, and that means our teams are back in action. To kick off their campaign for the spring semester, the CU Denver men’s basketball team headed south to Colorado State University Pueblo to compete in the Battle of I-25 tournament on Saturday, February 7.
In total, the varsity team played three games, with two in pool play and the third in an elimination bracket. CU Denver’s first game of the day was against the Colorado School of Mines, which the Lynx won 45-36. Their second game occurred later that day against the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. CU Denver would also win that game, by a final score of 38-30. After those two wins, the Lynx would be the number 1 seed heading into the elimination bracket portion of the tournament. In the bracket, CU Denver would take on UCCS once again, and unfortunately lost in the second game of the day between those two teams, by a final score of 52-45.
Now that the Battle of I-25 tournament is completed, the men’s basketball team turns its attention to the regional competition in Phoenix, Arizona, at Grand Canyon University. That competition will take place across multiple days at GCU, and will go from February 27 through March 1.
